A Book About Her

A documentative blog about the creation of the kids book "Love, Always" that me and my siblings made about our mother, Aixa Perez-Prado's, immigration story.

On February 12th, 2024 we gave our Mama the kids book “Love, Always” on her birthday. Written by my sisters, illustrated by me, and all additional information sourced by my brother.
Our goal was to show how nervous her mother must have been. The fear of reuniting with her daughter who she hoped would remember her, who would at least not hate her for having left. We wanted our Mama to feel once more, even if it couldn’t be directly from her, the warmth and love of her Mama.
We spent two months working on this project and still managed to only get it printed the day of. An effort best represented by the smudged fingerprints from the not yet settled ink on the front of the one and only physical copy.
The title was all that was left, but that we didn’t need to think much about. Afterall, this wasn’t just a gift from us, it was also from our Mima, her Mama.
